What Are the Different Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans Offered by Cigna?
Cigna Medicare Supplement plans or Medigap plans are classified into different plan letters; A through N. They all vary according to benefits such as coinsurance, copayment, hospice care, facility care, deductibles, excess charges, and foreign travel emergency.
Here, we focus on the more popular ones, namely, plan F, G, and N.
- Plan F: Among the three, plan F is the most popular, as it covers 100% of everything. From coinsurance, to excess charges. In addition, it also includes foreign travel emergency for emergency care outside the US. However, the rate for plan F increases at around 9% per year.
- Plan G: Medical Supplement plan G is similar in almost every regard to plan F, with the only difference being the $166 deductible which you have to pay yourself. Also, unlike plan F, with its rate increasing at 9% per year, plan G’s rate only goes up by about 4-5% on average. In the long run, this makes plan G the more stable plan between the two. Giving it a significant edge over plan F.
- Plan N: While plan N is also identical to the other two plans mentioned, it’s different in a sense that it’s more or less catered toward people who don’t to go to the doctor very frequently. With plan N, you’d need pay the $166 deductible and copay up to around $20. Plan N doesn’t cover excess charges.
Do take note that plan availability may vary by state. Hence, you first need to make sure you check rates to ensure you will not be overpaying. All Cigna Medicare Supplement plans are available at competitive rates. These rates vary according to your age, as well as your location.
